During the term break, our Year 10 students enrolled in the VET Community Services course took part in volunteering placements as part of their Certificate II assessments.
They contributed to organisations such as Islamic Relief, Aeralife Northpoint, Officeworks, and Vinnies, gaining invaluable experience in customer service and communication. These placements, aligned with the College’s values, provided real-world learning that will help students build essential skills for their futures.
Student Reflections:
"I highly enjoy working at the aged care and communicating with the residents. Heritage Epping aged care is a safe and open community, and my time is really valued here." Israa Baykara, Year 10
"I’m really enjoying my volunteering experience at Vinnies. It provides me with opportunities to learn new skills and gain valuable work experience. I've learned various tasks, such as using the price gun, organising items by colour, and working at the cash register. The people here are absolutely fantastic!" – Azran Azim 10G3
Reflecting on their experiences, students highlighted the joy of connecting with community members and the growth they achieved through learning new tasks. These experiences have been instrumental in preparing them for future roles in community services.
