In the evening of Sunday, 11 November 2018, members of our Student Reprentative Council (SRC) and five other Secondary students joined in to feed the homeless in the city as an ongoing project.
Alhamdulillah, the experience, once again, was terrific. We had chicken wraps and chips on the menu that night. The beautiful evening was enjoyed by everyone while our team was busy with cooking the chicken stir fry and chips, making chicken wraps with salad and serving at the front counter.
It is still a surreal thing – although the homeless people live within the same city, they are in a completely different situation. It is an eye-opener to witness how hard it is to get out of those pits if someone isn't careful about their life. May Allah grant them respite and all those who are in need, Muslim or not.
We served more than eighty people that night and also brought with us tinned canned foods, biscuits, water bottles and noodles as give away gifts for them.
It was wonderful to see College staff member, Mr Vella joining in with us on this activity. We would like to say “Thank You” for your “motivational” support. Our special thanks to "Hasene Australia", a Melbourne-based NGO, once again for offering the use of their “Mobile Kitchen” for the evening.
