On 14th August 2024, the 77th National Day of Pakistan was celebrated with great enthusiasm at the Pakistan Consulate General in Melbourne. The event commenced with a solemn Quran recitation and the playing of the National Anthem, followed by the reading of messages from the President and Prime Minister of Pakistan.
The College was honoured to be represented by two of our remarkable students: Amnah Saad from Year 12, a member of the Student Representative Council (SRC), and Abdurrahman Saad from Year 6, our Primary School Captain. Both showcased outstanding speaking skills and leadership during the event.
Amnah delivered a poignant speech in Urdu, highlighting the profound significance of Pakistan’s independence, while Abdurrahman addressed the audience in English, offering a unique perspective on the meaning of independence.
The event was graced by the presence of Pakistan’s former cricket team captain and legend, Wasim Akram, as the Chief Guest, along with Consul General Mr Syed Moazzam Hussain Shah and local community leaders. Another highlight of the event was the display of the ICC Cricket World Cup trophy by Cricket Australia.
Our students received participation certificates and a gift bag containing a signed cricket ball from Wasim Akram, presented by Wasim Akram and Consul General Mr Syed Moazzam Hussain Shah.
The large turnout from the Pakistani community added to the event’s vibrant atmosphere.
To celebrate the 77th anniversary of Pakistan’s independence, a symbolic cake-cutting took place, embodying the unity and collective pride of all those present.
We sincerely thank the Pakistan Consulate General in Melbourne for organising this meaningful event. Their dedication to celebrating cultural heritage and offering our students this invaluable opportunity is deeply appreciated.
