On 22 April, ten Senior Girls students were selected from our Year 8/9 cohort to attended the annual Islamic Futsal Cup competition.
Futsal is the official FIFA version of indoor soccer and indeed the only internationally recognised small sided game. Futsal uses a special low bounce ball, which encourages players to develop skills, sharpen their reflexes and improve their decision-making under pressure. With a 4 second restart rule, small playing area and unlimited substitutions the game offers non-stop action and significantly increases a player’s speed of play.
It was an outstanding and even more exciting day to be involved in. The girls behaved impeccably and showed great sportsmanship to the other Islamic schools that attended. They played a very skilful game on the day and I couldn't be happier as a coach on their efforts. Unfortunately, we did lose the competition. However, we gained an insight on how to improve on our skills and our chances to win for next year, inshaAllah.
