Students, staff and many parents attended our annual Sports Carnival and Fun Run today on this sunny and and hot Friday. It was wonderful and heartwarming to see so many of you present and decked out in your child/children’s bright house colours on our sports grounds, showing your support to both your children as well as the entire community.
After the emotional turmoil that we all experienced over the course of this week, it was good to be outside, see the children laughing and having a fantastic time, leaving our grief aside for a while. Students represented their house teams, which include Team Marwa (Yellow), Safa (Red), Mina (Green) and Arafat (Blue). Our newly appointed House Captains could be seen in creative costumes and even Iron Man (Mr Kinsella) made an appearance to run along the Primary students on their Fun Run.
Congratulations to House SAFA (RED) for winning the 2019 Sports Carnival, and best of success to all houses for next year’s Sports Carnival.
Our cupcake sale raised an amazing $1,017.80. We will update you shortly on the funds raised with our Primary School Fun Run. Your child can still receive donations for another month until late April 2019.
Across New Zealand, the nation was being called to prayer at 1.32pm (11.32am Australian time) to reflect in silence for two minutes. We joined in solitary: Two Minutes of Silence were observed by the entire College community present on side at 11.32am to honour the 50 lives lost at last Friday’s terrorist attack in Christchurch.
