Our Year 9 KLIC students had the opportunity to visit a nursery in Bulleen, in which they were given a tour of the plants, flowers and seedlings in season at the moment. The students were able to ask questions about growing conditions, suitability for schools, as well as general facts about each plant.
The students chose a mixture of bush foods, vegetable plants and herbs, to kick-start their garden patches in their raised garden beds on campus. As they care for and grow the plants, they will attempt to sell it back to the school and/or community, and experiment and experience what business planning is like!
Look out for some locally grown, fresh spring onions, rosemary, and other green goodies coming your way!
