Just over a year ago, the PFF engaged in the SRC project to provide winter essentials for the people in Syria. For this project we ran knitting classes so sisters could learn a new skill of knitting while making scarves. It was such a successful exercise for us that we wanted to continue our new found skills and move onto another project by making a blanket.
In the beginning of Term 3, the PFF again ran knitting classes, but also added crocheting. It was wonderful to see so many sister enjoy learning a new skill and making new friends along the way. After a lot of hard work, we have finished two beautiful blankets that we will give to the junior classes to pass on to the residents of the Ottoman Aged Care at their upcoming visit in celebration of Grandparents Week.
Overall, we had over 20 sisters help contribute knitted or crocheted squares for our blanket, some who were already skilled yarners, and others who have just learnt. I'm so proud of all of them.
InShaAllah, the residents of the Ottoman Aged Care love these blankets as much as we loved making it.
