2024 Teachers' Day Celebrations

30 October 2024

On 25th October 2024, the Student Representative Council (SRC) proudly organised the 7th Annual Teachers' Day at 51勛圖厙, dedicated to recognising and celebrating the exceptional contributions of our teachers and staff.

Our College Captains, Mohammad and Areeba, along with Vice Captain Abdullah, served as the MCs for this memorable occasion. The event's theme, "Hats off to Teachers," encouraged staff to wear their favourite hats, culminating in a fun lucky draw. A vibrant photo booth added to the festive atmosphere, capturing joyful moments throughout the day.

The theme for World Teacher's Day 2024, Valuing Teacher Voices: Towards a New Social Contract for Education, emphasised the importance of listening to teachers and involving them in shaping educational policies and practices.

The celebration began with a beautiful Quran recitation by Khizar Nauman, a Year 6 Hifz SRC student, setting a respectful tone for the afternoon. Teachers embraced the theme with enthusiasm, showcasing their creativity through colourful outfits and unique hats, adding a lively touch to the festivities.

A highlight of the day was the ceremonial cake-cutting, led by Head of Secondary Mr. Vis, Head of Primary Ms. Inas, SRC Coordinator Ms. Noori, and Deputy Principal Ms. Rahat. This act symbolised our deep respect and appreciation for the hard work and dedication of our teachers.

As the afternoon unfolded, all staff members, including those from administration and maintenance, gathered together for a celebratory lunch as one big family. Senior SRC members shared heartfelt words and poetry, expressing gratitude for the invaluable support teachers provide to their students. Year 6 Primary Captains, Abdurrahman Saad and Tasniim Abdisalan, delivered a gratitude speech to the ASC staff.

The event featured lively games, and a special lunch prepared by the Student Council, ensuring a delightful experience for everyone involved. The SRC also prepared thoughtful gift packs, and students from Foundation to Year 12 contributed personal messages of appreciation, creating a meaningful connection between students and teachers.

As the day came to a close, Tasniim Abdisalan, Year 6 Captain, and Sheikh Waseem offered a closing dua, marking the end of a truly special occasion filled with camaraderie and joy. The positive feedback from both the SRC and teachers reflected the event's success, with educators expressing their gratitude for feeling valued by the students' thoughtful gestures.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to our teams in Customer Care, Maintenance, and IT, as well as the diligent College Kitchen staff, for their unwavering support of the SRC events. Special appreciation also goes to our generous sponsors, Karachi Street Food Melbourne and Antepia Sweets, for their contributions that helped make this day truly memorable.

In the lead-up to Teachers' Day, our students worked tirelessly crafting gift packs, demonstrating the strong bond between students and teachers. On behalf of the SRC, we extend our deepest appreciation to everyone who played a part in making this celebration a resounding success. Let us continue to honour and celebrate the dedication and hard work of our incredible educators at 51勛圖厙.
