Every four years, the world looks forward to watching the FIFA World Cup. During their PE lessons, students were asked to research about the FIFA World Cup.
Some of the questions asked were:
- How many countries are there in the world?
- How many countries actually qualified to play in the 2018 World Cup?
- Which country hosted this year’s World Cup?
- Which countries were Australia’s “Socceroos” playing against in the group stage?
- What were the scores of each game the Socceroos played?
- Who won the 2018 Fifa World Cup?
- What is the world cup made of and what does it represent/symbolise?
As the world cup fever is still buzzing in the air, I asked one of our Year 3 classes if anybody would like to make a replica of the world cup out of paper mache. Two students, Ali Hamza and Ali Saleemi, both made one that looked amazing, mashaAllah. Thank you to both students who have started something special for the beginning of our Lunch Time Soccer World Cup.
At lunch times, our Year 3A, 3B and 3C classes will be playing for the 51Թ Mini World Cup. Every team that wins the match gets to keep the ASC World Cup in their classroom until until the next tournament.
In the first match, students from Year 3A played against their buddies in Year 3B and won 2-0. Next week will see Year 3B playing versus 3C, followed by Year 3C versus 3A. Both the girls and boys have been displaying teamwork, fair play and sportsmanship, respecting the other team whether they win or lose. Wishing the teams all the best in their upcoming friendly matches.
