Our Year 5/6 students competed in the Bridge Inn District Cross Country competition last week which saw them completing a 2km and 3 km endurance run at Bundoora Park.
Our students had commenced training back in Term 1 a week before Ramadan, completing 12 to 15 laps around our big sports oval on site. Alhamdulillah, from there we were able to select our ASC Junior Cross Country Team. We were very proud of both the girls and the boys who were all giving it their best all the way through the course. It was a beautiful sunny day with a heavy rainfall in between just to add an extra challenge for students.
A really big Thank You to the following teachers who helped with the preparation to select the final team and supervise them on the day: Ms Franciscah (Coach), Ms Zahra (assistant coach), Mr Adam and Mr Ahmad (trainer and recruiter), and last but not least our very own Year 8 KLIC student Abdulsalam Yussuf who was a sensational volunteer, marshalling and navigating students through the course of the track.
Congratulations to Amir Tinawi for finishing in the Top 4 out of over 120 students, mashaAllah! Amir will soon be representing Al Siraat in the upcoming Whittlesea and Woodland Division Cross Country Championship Victoria on 31 May. On behalf of the College, we wish Amir all the very best ahead of the big event.
