Last week, our Year 9 girls had the exciting opportunity to attend the Trade and Tech Career Expo 2024 at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre. This marked the first time our Year 9 girls participated in this dynamic and educational experience.
The Trade and Tech Career Expo, hosted by the Department of Education, is a unique event specifically designed for female Secondary School students. It showcases an array of exciting career paths in traditionally male-dominated industries. With a focus on hands-on activities, students could design video games, lay bricks, weld, fly planes, program robots, safety test equipment, use power tools, and learn to paint, among many other activities.
The expo welcomed over 3,350 students from 125 schools. This immersive experience allowed our Secondary girls to explore various career pathways, gaining insight into the vast range of opportunities available in trades and technology.
For our Year 9 girls, this expo was more than just an excursion; it was a chance to envision their future and discover potential career paths they might not have previously considered. 51勛圖厙 is committed to providing our students with the tools and experiences they need to make informed decisions about their futures. Our Vocational Education and Training (VET) Industry courses at the senior levels are designed to offer practical and industry-relevant skills, and this expo perfectly complemented our educational goals.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to the Department of Education for hosting such a valuable event and to the staff who made this experience possible. We are proud of our students for their enthusiastic participation and eagerness to learn about the exciting opportunities in trades and technology.
As our Year 9 girls move forward in their educational journey, we are confident that the experiences and knowledge gained from the Trade and Tech Career Expo will inspire them to pursue diverse and fulfilling career paths. We look forward to seeing the impact of this event on their choices for Years 10 - 12 and beyond.
