In the leadup to World Environment Day, our Student Support Department (SSD) hosted two engaging sessions for our Primary students: A Kahoot quiz for our lower Primary and "Caring for Wildlife" sessions for students in Years 3 to 6.
SSD led a Kahoot Quiz prepared by Sacred Earth during lunch time for the students to reflect and think about ways they could reduce their impact on the environment. Each question explored different aspects and the impact we have on the environment like the greenhouse effect, global warming, bycatch in the contesting of fishing and promoting green building designs.
Additionally, Ms Tanja who volunteers with The Wildlife Rescuers Inc. and a local wildlife shelter, spoke to our Year 3 to 6 students in two separate lunch time sessions about practical ways on how we can all support native wildlife during hot summer days, being mindful of the correct fruit tree netting and what to do if you see an unsprayed kangaroo, wombat or possum on the side of the road or getting hit by a car.
The students were very excited to engage in some rescue scenarios and were told about the importance to always call on the Wildlife Rescuers on 0417 506 941 if they come across an injured or distressed animal.
