The College ran various fun and interactive programs with all students from both Junior and Senior School to celebrate HARMONY WEEK from 16th till 20th March (Week 7 of the first term). The Harmony Day Motto was * “Everyone belongs”* and was celebrated on Thursday, 19th March when students wore orange accessories and clothes for gold coin donations and attended a Special Morning Assembly.
On this occasion, Principal Mr Andrew Houghton presented students, staff and parents with a beautiful mosaic art work, which will be permanently exhibited inside the Junior School Building.
The mosaic is called “The Tree of Life” and was received as a gift from Sr. Anisa Sharif, member of the Federal Police and well-known mosaic artist.
Besides, students could get henna applied for a gold coin donation. Staff joined the celebrations with orange ribbons, hijabs and clothes worn throughout the week.
It is the pleasure to announce that we have collected approx. $384 from gold coin donations. This money will be given to support refugees in Australia.
Classroom activities for Harmany Week ranged from making a harmony tree and a good deeds chain to writing the word “peace” in multiple languages. Students also shared messages of peace, harmony, friendship and collaboration. Another highlight was the friendly soccer match between Senior Boys students against male teachers and a Netball match between Senior Girls students and female teaching staff.
