Our Primary students had the opportunity to participate in two lunch time activities to celebrate, honour and engage in Earth Day 2024. The activities had been organised by our dedicated Student Support Department (SSD), with a special thanks going to Ms Guls, Ms Shazmin, Mr Hafidi and Mr Abeer.
Earth Day is a reminder of the importance of environmental conservation and sustainability, encouraging us to come together and take action for a healthier planet and brighter future. This year’s theme was "Planet vs. Plastic" as a call and commitment to end plastics for the sake of human and planetary health.
“The word environment means what surrounds you. Now plastics do more than surround us; we have become the product itself- it flows through our blood stream, adheres to our internal organs, and carries with it heavy metals known to cause cancer and disease. Now this once-thought amazing and useful product has become something else, and our health and that of all other living creatures hangs in the balance,†said Kathleen Rogers, President of EARTHDAY.ORG. “The Planet vs. Plastics campaign is a call to arms, a demand that we act now to end the scourge of plastics and safeguard the health of every living being upon our planet.â€
We all can make positive change for this amazing planet we call Earth. The achievements of young changemakers can inspire us all to do our part to help create a better future.
